Bathymetric data were post-processed using CARIS HIPS ver. 7.0 hydrographic data cleaning system software. Soundings were corrected for vessel motion using Kongsberg Seatex Motion Reference Unit (MRU), variations in water column sound velocity using Applied Microsystems smartSVP data, and adjusted for variations in water height (tides) using vertical position data from Kongsberg Seatex. Post-survey data cleaning, as well as Bathymetry Associated with Statistical Error (BASE) Surface creation using swath angle algorithm, were applied by CMWS. CMWS created final products from these post-processed multibeam bathymetry data. Soundings (xyz) were exported from a BASE Surface as an xyz text file. The xyz were imported into Fledermaus Dmagic ver. 7.1 to grid. In Dmagic, the 1m decimated xyz text files were interpolated into digital elevation model (DEM) grids. The Fledermaus grids were exported as ArcInfo ASCII raster files (.asc), which were converted into bathymetry ArcInfo grids in ArcGIS. Final x,y,z soundings, surface models, and derived products are relative to the NAD83 datum.

        No accuracy assessment was completed for this dataset. The instruments involved are capable of x and y position accuracy of 1cm, heading accuracy of 0.05% and roll and pitch accuracy of 0.03%.

No tidal correction was made to the data. The instruments involved are capable of a z position accuracy of 2cm and heave accuracy of 5% or 5cm.
      </attraccr>
    </attracc>
    <logic>
      The data are approximately set at a Mean Sea Level Chart datum but are not tide corrected, because tidal variation is a small percent (<0.01%) compared to the total depth. The tidal range is also less than the total accuracy of the data along these single transits and thus any slight offset is not observable within the data.

The data crossing over a previous NOAA multibeam survey matched at 99% of total depth.
Lead weight harbor verifications were done in both Key West and Pascagoula matching within 5 cm.

Point features present. Similar scarps and bioherms were observed with the new data as was visible in the previous data collected by NOAA in a systematic survey along the slope of the west shelf of Florida in depths ranging from 300 to 700 meters.
