Aguijan (Goat Island) is an uplifted limestone island with a land area of 7.3 square kilometers. It is presently uninhabited, although it was populated during WWII. The island is now under the management of the Tinian Municipal Council. The neighboring islet, Naftan Rock, was used as a bombing target by the U.S. Navy and unexploded ordnance remains in the surrounding waters. The island is now home to nesting seabirds. The reefs just off the northwest coast are the largest and most developed.
