  Description: 
    Abstract: These web-posted charts show sea surface temperature (SST) time
      series at a representative satellite pixel location for Davies Reef GBR coral reefs.
      The time series is extracted from NOAA/NASA AVHRR Oceans Pathfinder
      daily 9km nighttime sea surface temperature dataset. The SST time series
      covers the time period from 1985 through mid-2003. Satellite data from the
      Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) on NOAA's Polar Orbiting
      Environmental Satellite (POES) were used to generate AVHRR SST.
    Purpose: The AVHRR-SSTs and SST time series at selected locations, including Davies Reef GBR,
      were primarily developed for NOAA's Coral Reef Watch Program
      from satellite data for both monitoring and assessment of coral bleaching.
      Other monitoring and assessment products include the SST anomalies, coral
      bleaching HotSpots, Degree Heating Weeks, Tropical Coral Bleaching Indices.
