The coral reef research program is centered on the long term study and understanding of shallow and deep coral reef ecosystems. These programs include studies of coral reef ecology, physical oceanography, monitoring of coral health, genetic diversity of corals, monitoring of seawater temperatures and currents, monitoring of meteorological parameters, and coring of ancient coral reefs to establish a paleoclimate history of coral growth and survival related to natural climate changes.
